Varsity Summer Internship...

Everytime when I watched this video, all the memories of my last summer would flash back into my mind, it felt like all these had just happened not long ago, i could still remember every single details of what happened to me for the last summer, yet it has been one year past now. Another summer has came...

For me (and I believe, for most of the people too), Varsity Company Summer Internship is one of the hardest job you can ever have. Seriously, I am not kidding.... Imagine this, you are an international student that has just came to the States not long ago, and now you have to drive all the way to a state that you have never been before, not knowing anybody there. All you have is the $500 that you are allowed to have for the whole summer, and you have to look for an apartment for you to stay for the whole summer the first day you arrive there, and you must be able to get the best deal on that day and be able to move in immediately, otherwise you would have to stay at motel, which is the last thing you want to do. And the very next day you have to drive to the town assigned to you and start working, going from one house to another, meeting all kinds of people that you don't even know whether they are good people or not. Everyday you are competing with the time and most importantly, competing with yourself and your emotion. You will realize how weak or how strong you are, whether you are able to stand the bad feeling of being slammed door by many people everyday, whether you can keep going after being rejected by the nice people (yup...this is hard, because they are all very nice to you, yet they still say "NO" to you), whether you can stand the pressure from the managers and the coworkers, especially when you see your friends are doing so well. After all, can you put everything aside, and just enjoy yourself with the customers? I salute myself for managing to finish it without quitting.

I salute all my friends who have done and who are doing this program, because you guys are strong, especially for those who have been doing this for few years.

So for all my friends who are in this program right now, please please just hang on there. Time will go fast, before you know it, that's the end of the summer. And to my dearest Xin Yuan, Siew Mun, and Yee Mun, Please make sure you guys make enough money and come back to treat me a real nice meal. Hahaha...

THE VARSITY CREED

This is the beginning of a new day
I have been given this day to use as I will.
I CAN WASTE IT or use it for good.

What I do today is important because I’m
Exchanging a day of my life for it.

When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone
Forever, leaving in its
Place whatever I have traded for it.
I PLEDGE TO MYSELF that it shall be:

Gain, not loss; good, not evil;
Success, not failure;

In order that I shall not regret the price
I paid for this day.
